Nick Weston’s Dream Story

            At the car pulled into the driveway Alex scurried for her keys.

            “I had a great time tonight.” Nick said with an awkward grin as he leaned toward Alex.

            “Uh, yeah me too.” She said as she slid out of Nick’s reach. Alex quickly jumped out of the car and ran to her front door. Once inside, she dead bolted the door and peered out the window as the car pulled out of the driveway. She sighed with relief when the taillights disappeared in the night. Alex proceeded to take a bath. As she lay in the bathtub she closed her eyes in recollection of the night’s earlier events.

            “I’ll never find the right guy,” Alex mumbled under her breath. “It’s useless.” After her bath Alex got on the computer to check her email. She had received a message from an unknown address. It appeared to be some sort of dating website with a twist. It relied on a ritual the recipient must perform in order to obtain success in dating. “Heck, it’s worth a shot.” Alex said as the scrolled through the email. When she got to the bottom there was a chant she must perform in order for the ritual to be effective. Alex slowly repeated the words:

“Oh, glorious Dating God

Please give me a guy with a nice bod

I’m tired of trying

When these men keep lying

My heart is in two

I don’t know what to do

My trust is in you

Oh, glorious Dating God.”

Alex sat there for a minute. Nothing happened. She climbed into bed and stared at the ceiling. She heard the pitter patter of rain on the roof as she drifted to sleep. The next morning Alex drowsily got ready for work. When she walked outside to get in her car, she had noticed that the sky was exceptionally dark. She had thought there would be bad weather but this was just unnatural. As she was driving down the road she came upon an enormous cloud that was as dark as the night. She was so astonished that she got out of her car to look at it. At that moment, thunder roared and a voice from above called out to her:

            “Alex! Your wish has been granted!” And at that, lightening came out of the sky and knocked her down. Everything went black. Alex was unconscious. She woke suddenly with Nick standing over her.

            “Alex, are you okay? What happened?” Nick exclaimed. For some reason, Nick looked overwhelmingly handsome compared to the night before. Alex felt drawn to him. Nick carried her in his newly muscular, strong arms to a nearby hospital where she quickly recovered. Two weeks later Nick and Alex got married.
